Greetings all!
Well, I honestly don't know how long I've been reading West Karana... but it has been quite a while (at least a year). I have finally decided to bite the bullet and post on something I've tried to do a few times in the past... create a character, resist twinkage, and rekindle that awe I felt so many years ago. The other huge draw for me is the type of people Nostalgia has among its ranks... Mature people who are looking to hang out, see some of the "old country", and have a good time with little in the way of expectations. I also like the fact that you seem organized and intent on experiencing EQ like the days of old.
Therefore, I have decided to crank up my EQ1 account and get to patching tonight. My gnomish (oh yes, I WILL be a gnome) presence will be felt on the Luclin server tonight or tomorrow. I hope to touch base with one of you at that time and I hope to join your ranks.
To Nostalgia the Guild... thank you for doing this.
Sincerely,
Gnewton

Thanks Tipa!!!
Now, the question should be... What "type" of a gnome does Nostalgia need?
Back in the day, I played pretty much every single class (just ask my wife). I'm sure you will say, "Play what you want!", but honestly, is there anything the guild needs? I saw on EQPlayers there is a lack of Enchanters (I saw only 1) and SK's (again, only 1).
I should be able to catch up pretty quick. So, if there is anything in need, will you please let me know? (perhaps one of the "holy trinity" that goes missing on Tues or Fri?)
Thanks gang, I look forward to this journey!

Actually, neither the enchanter nor the SK play. One of our berserkers just rerolled as a warrior to be the second tank for Friday's group, and I am the tank for the Tuesday group, so though we have no SKs, we're good on tanks. Of course, if you want to play an SK, go right ahead
But we have no active enchanters, so if you feel like rolling one up, there will certainly be a place for you. Actually, no matter WHAT you roll up, there will be a place for you.
We try to make sure everyone who shows up gets a spot.

Hello Nostalgians,
I've been lurking and following your progress for a while, but now that SoE has seen fit to give me all these free EQ1 expansions, I figure it's time to give the game a(nother) try. I play EQ2 a lot, and expect to continue playing EQ2 a lot, so probably wouldn't be on EQ1 very often, but it would be nice to have someone to talk to, and occasionally group with, as I meander through the game. Would you have room in your guild for an iksar shaman (name of Sszaron) ?

Definitely! And you might find you have more fun in EverQuest than you think...!
Just /join nostalgia and ask someone in the channel for a guild invite.

Welcome.
Like Tipa mentioned, just join channels and ask around, there's typically someone around, and I agree, you may find yourself liking it more then you thought you would.

Another hello from another Legacy-reactivied player!
I'm mostly in the same boat (and guild, actually, as Jaffa (the poster above)). EQ2 was my first and has been my home and main time investment for the past 3 and a half years, so I'm going to have spotty login times here at best.
Regardless, the original EverQuest has always held a certain mystique for me, and I'd really like to get as familiar with it and its world as I am the 500-years-in-the-future version. (I did originally try to join a 'new players' guild some time ago, when the Anniversary Edition was released, with Swampaxe's Grobbsquad/"Kicking Snakes" guild. However, I was even more involved with EQ2 at the time, actively raiding, so I couldn't spare the time for two games and regrettably had to let it go.)
My highest character in EQ2 is a Troubador so I figured I'd better go back to the roots here so I rolled a Vah Shir Bard. Named Maromi.
I hope you guys'll at least let me listen in on your guild chat, and maybe throw me a tip now and then. I have no clue how you all level so fast. I've spent two days in those Gloomingdeep Mines already.
PS Tipa and Stargrace, love your blogs.

Hello Guys!
You guessed it, yet another returnee with the Legacy promotion, which I am actually really excited about, after a 4 year break it is great to step back into the original Norrath. I originally played on the Luclin server and have a level 67 Ranger, but I do intend to start afresh with a new character so I can learn the game afresh and experience it all over again as so much has changed in the last few years
I saw your guild mentioned on the guild lobby board thingy, and I liked the sound of it, so I have been browsing your forums and have to say you all come across as a great bunch of people with just the right attitude about the game, and if you would have me in your guild I would be honoured. Only issue is I actually live in New Zealand
(Long story but I am orginally from the UK and moved out here last July) but as I play a lot during my daytime, it should coiincide with a lot of your playtimes anyway, so it might just be more for company at first and if timing is good and any more progression groups start up I could hopefully join in with them
I am a pretty easy going person, who has played mmo's for a good few years now, starting with UO way back, then EQ, WOW and lastly EQ2, though I am not playing any of them at the moment so this promotion came along at exactly the right time yay
I only got into mmo's after my son was born and my husband worked nights so I was at home by myself with baby and bored of tv and saw something about UO in a magazine and it went from there ...... 7 years on, still playing them
Character wise I have yet to decide for definate what I will play, but at the moment it is whittled down to between a mage, shaman, enchanter or cleric and I am experiimenting with them now, if groups are ok to comer by in game I would choose between the cleric or enchanter, but if it comes down to soloing a lot, between the mage or shaman. Or I might just have a grouper and soloer and just play it day by day as to whether I can get a group it play my solo character.
Anyway I have blabbed on quite enough, thanks for taking your time to read this and I hope to chat to some of you soon.
Ali
(Character still undecided so wont post all the names .... or more like I can't remember all of them doh
)

Welcome to Nostalgia! Be sure to join the nostalgia channel and someone will be able to invite you into the guild. I don't know if we have any other Oceanic/Asian time members, but there's usually someone around. I'm not sure if Euro time would be better or worse for you; we do have a Euro group starting on the Antonius Bayle server.
The people in this guild are, in fact, uniformly awesome
See you in game soon!

Thanks Tipa
I will give someone a shout during the week as I try not to play too much at the weekend so I can spend time with the family. And for the time I play mostly I think US times are better, for example if I have worked my times out correctly I think it works out something like 10am NZ time(roughly my playtime) -> 11pm UK -> 7pm EST.
Looking forward to joining you in the week
